Model Overview
The Volkswagen Taos is offered in several different trims ranging from a base S up through SE, to the top-of-the-line SEL. All trims come standard with front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive as an option.

No matter which model buyers choose, the Taos is powered by a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, making 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. On all Taos models, a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel drive distributes power between the front and rear wheels as needed to help optimize traction and stability.. The system also includes a variety of driver-selectable modes, including a Snow Mode, On-Road Mode, Off-Road Mode and an Off-Road Custom Mode.

The Taos is a two-row subcompact SUV, and it allows plenty of passenger space. A strut-type front suspension and 4-link rear setup keep the wheels in contact with the road, while an electromechanical power steering system provides precise control. The Taos includes 4-wheel disc brakes, with vented discs in front as well as brake assist and an electronic parking brake.

The base Taos S includes a 6.5-inch touch screen infotainment system, Bluetooth and USB smartphone connectivity, a rearview camera, LED daytime-running-lights, heated front seats,

The SE model increases the touchscreen to 8-inches adds a remote starter, a wireless device charger, a blind spot warning system, forward collision mitigation, rear collision warning and a pedestrian detection system.

SEL models include a navigation system, fully climate controlled front seats, leather upholstery, a power driver seat, rain sensing wipers, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, adaptive front LED headlights, an active lane departure system, and rear parking sensors.
